Overdraft Protection: Automatic & Free

Heights Community FCU offers two types of overdraft protection for your share draft (checking) account:

• Automatic transfer from savings: if a check or debit drawn on your checking exceeds the available funds in the checking account, the additional amount needed will be automatically taken at no charge from your share (savings) account (if you have sufficient funds in your savings account). Members are automatically signed up for this service.
• Automatic transfer from personal line of credit: Once you have set up a personal line of credit with HSJFCU, any check or debit drawn from your checking account that exceeds the amount available in the checking account will automatically be drawn at no charge from your line of credit (if you have not exceeded the line of credit limit). You must sign up and be approved for a line of credit to get this type of automatic transfer.
• Courtesy Pay (click here for more information about Courtesy Pay) is a service that provides you with another resource to help manage your occasional cash shortfall. With Courtesy Pay instead of returning a transaction due to insufficient funds, we have the option to pay the item, (up to a credit limit of $400.00) and allow your account to go negative. This may save you any third party fees, plus the embarrassment of having the item returned. The standard $30.00 non-sufficient funds (NSF) fee still applies. Courtesy Pay is a non-contractual service and requires no action to enroll (not all accounts are eligible). For more information or to opt-out, call the credit union at (610) 868-8211.
